anyways, i know what you're saying about myspace.com .... this semester was the first time that i ever heard of or came across the site myspace.com .... countless people among those who lived in my apartment complex (considered to be an integral part of the "student ghetto" for those who go to Valencia Community College (where I taught) and the University of Central Florida. There were four computers in the leasing office which we -- as residents -- were allowed to use during the hours that that office was open. just about all the other kids who used those computers spent most of their time on myspace.com, visiting other peoples' pages and writing to them .... the conclusion that i arrived at vis-a-vis myspace.com --- while the people that i saw using it weren't pedophiles (they themselves were generally 19-20 years old,) but they were profoundly stupid and had no lives to speak of. they used to write things like "i want to be wit u" and "you was looking good" to the girls with their own myspace pages that they wanted to fuck. every once in a while, their cell phones would go off and they would play the loudest, crappiest rap music you can imagine; shit music of this nature would also sound out from the myspace pages that these people accessed. i would like to think that the reason why i never so much as kissed a girl in orlando florida was because so many of the late-teens and 20-something people there were just soooooooo uncultured. in short, the destruction of myspace.com wouldn't hurt me at all --- but it would make me laugh so hard due to the fact that all these uncultured, uneducated douchebags that used it would be so bummed out. as for IM ..... im not sure how that is defined. i do use yahoo messenger fairly frequently in order to talk to friends of mine .... for me, it is far quicker for me to converse with a friend online than it would be to write a long email to them (invariably in romanian) ..... the truth is that i do that also, though. in any event, i never have and never will use expressions like OMG and LOL .... prescurtariile aleea sunt cam retarded, dupa mine (those abbreviations are pretty retarded, in my view.) oh, and as concerns the idiotic (and grammatically incorrect) things that alot of these people wrote to others through the latters myspace accounts, im inclined to think that a good number of them tended to write in a fairly similar manner when they did their papers for school. as an example, i received more than one paper in which people wrote the "word" "thru" in place of through. ...... in spite of all that im saying here, i do have faith in the working class, the youth and the progressive sections of the middle class to get rid of the us's ultra-reactionary and criminal adninistration. 19 year old imbeciles who listen to "trying catch when im riding dirty" etc, etc. etc DO NOT (and for this we are as fortunate as possible) represent the majority of the population of the states or, indeed, anything close to that. take it easy .... ari |
