You'd think that by now I'd have learned.. ...you'd think.. You'd think that by now I'd know better than to play too wildly with production systems.. You'd think.. You'd think that I'd have learned not to run with scissors.. You'd think.. well..
Well, I guess I haven't learned. This evening, after what I thought were extensive-enough tests, I installed glibc-2.3.1
Sure, it passed all its tests... Sure, it installed cleanly.. So I was content. Then I tried to fire-up MYSQL... and it segfaulted... UGH.
Everything else on the box ran juuuuuuuust fine.. but not MYSQL... nosireeee.. So.. being the smartass that I am, I recompiled it.. and watched it segfault again and again... mamma mia. MYSQL happens to run just a feeeeww things on this box, so we kinda can't live without it.. Unfortunate but true..
I guess it's a good thing I backed up the system ten minutes before I installed... So, here we are running off my backup disk.. That is until I copy the current system over to the "old" drive. Somebody smack me.
