Switchover almost done!

Linux I suppose I failed to mention that not only am I switching ISP's, but I've upgraded most of good 'ol Stinkfoot's innards as well. The "new foot" is a dual G4 533 with 1.2G of RAM, and ~30G of Ultra160 SCSI. RAID is hopefully next.. we'll just have to see what kind of PPC/RAID solution can handle! (and my flimsy wallet as well!) The whole kitten kaboodle should be online sometime this week. Initially I was going to rebuild most of the OS by hand as well, but seeing as it's already completely hand-made (thanks to slackintosh.exploits.org and linuxfromscratch.org) and I've ironed out several long-standing and quite aggravating bugs.. I may as well leave well enough alone!

I hope those of you who use the mail like the new system. It was a pain in the arse to set up correctly.. mainly due to the fact that PHP session storage has issues on bigendian machines. Thankfully, I was able to implement a simple MySQL session-storage system to replace the libmm or file-based session cache that didn't work well on MSB. Thanks go out to phpbuilder.com for this tidbit.

I've also rid myself of register.com's half-assed broken nameservers, after almost two weeks of screwed-up A record filp-flopping and the inevitable mail bounces and other troubles that go hand in hand with DNS problems. I grabbed the cricket book, and setup all my own nameservers. Everything works smoothly now. I guess if you want something done right... do it yourself!

latez..
